The Wimberly House Ministries have served Burke County’s 22,000 residents for more than 20 years as an ecumenical outreach ministry. There are many programs and services available such as a two-week summer camp for youth, Family Counseling, Education for Divorced Parents, Alcoholics Anonymous, 24-Hour Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Service Victim Advocacy, Citizen’s Judicial Panel for Children in Foster Care, and a Respite Care Program. The primary source of income is the “A Taste of Burke County” held in February each year. The entire community supports this event by providing food, auction items, gala sponsors and the purchase of tickets.
